Shopping, with Tiwa

The door leads out into a shaded courtyard paved with pale red stones. Two sides of the courtyard is created by the house, the third a stable and the fourth the gate into the outside city. A tall tree with wide, flat, pale yellow leaves is in the center, its roots woven into nooks to sit in. Laruna sits on one of the roots, her fingers criss-crossing a cats-cradle game while next to her stood a man about hers and Alec's age. He has short curly auburn hair on a round face with hazel eyes. He could be nice looking except for the rather unpleasant smirk on his face. He's nuts eating from a small bag, from which Laruna occasionally snags some from.

The air is crisp with the tang of just started spring. Tall mountains cusp the surrounding view with white finger tips. Two moons hang like wisps of clouds in the sky, barely visible. The house is a two story cream colored building with a rooftop that came to a sharp point to prevent snow for clinging on to it. Glass panes protected the windows and are nudged open just a bit to let the fresh air in.

It is a rather pleasant day, all in all.

Alec gets a surprise hug from Tiwa,

"You should pick something out that you like and help me find something."

"For your future reference," Alec begins after patting Tiwa. "Those bracelets? Are the equivalent of engagement rings."

"She's gonna have fun with that one," Jono murmured.

"Aww, how sweet. Jono, you should do it properly if you're going to ask something like that. Kneeling, candles, oaths, all that sort of wonderful stuff."

"We're still talking about it," Jono said. "And talking about it. There are issues involved beyond my current wishes. The Oracle can't just marry anyone willy nilly."

"The Oracle isn't supposed to be having a sex life either," Alec commented back. "Or relationships. It's complicated," he finished to Tiwa.

Jono picked up a glass bird on a delicate gold chain. The bird was streaked with oranges and reds and a dark yellow eye. "It's a phoenix," he says showing it to her.

"All relationships are complicated that's what makes them fun."

Tiwa picked up a bird that has a lovely fan type of tail,

"I like this one better."

"Most don't involve the city council," Jono muttered.

Alec looked at her chosen bird. "That's a whoot bird. They live out in the fields catching insects and things."

"Good eating."

"You two are sneaky, you just go around them. Anyway its a really sparkly and pretty bracelet."

Tiwa glares at Jono and holds it up to see how it looks.

Jono gives her a confused look at the glare. He doesn't know she's a bird!!

On the other hand, Alec gives a bark of laughter. "Jono's probably the most prominent person in the city. It'd be hard to keep it a secret."

"Why should you keep it secret? You two are just adorable together."

"They are adorable together, what are we talking about?" Laruna said coming to join them. She had a small bag in her hands and she looked curious.

Jono held up a bracelet. She grinned widely.

"We can be adorable without being married," Alec said firmly.

"But then you get to have a really big party and everyone gives you presents."

"I'm going over there and sulk," Alec said and pointed at a weapons booth. He took off rather quickly.

Jono sighed and shook his head. "He's always been like that."

"You need to romance him more."

Giving her an askance look, Jono said, "I do?" Clearly the concept never occurred to him.

"He does like that sort of thing," Laruna said being helpful in all the wrong ways.

"Yes, go find him something he will adore and surprise it for him. Then you have a picnic or something in an utterly private place so you can kiss him and all that over stuff without a worry. Show him that you're truly his and he's yours."

"But he already knows that," he said.

"How often do you tell him?"

Men can be so stupid sometimes.

Jono gets a thoughtful look on his face. "Whenever we have sex?"

"Do you tell him when you're not having sex? Laruna, help me out here, he's being an idiot towards your brother."

"That's standard practice," Laruna says, looking amused. "But you do need to tell him more often."

"Why? I mean he knows and I know and stop looking at me like that Laruna."

"Picnics are nice."

"So are romantic dates, you could do one of those too. We need to find you something pretty to buy him."

For a moment Jono looks like he's going to protest, but then he gets a resigned face. "Like what?"

"Something fiery. What about that phoenix necklace? Would he like that, Laruna?"

Laruna picks it up again and looks at it. "Hrmm... maybe."

"What do you think he'd like?"

Tiwa stops because she found a necklace that's a flower which reminds her of the frangipaini at home.
