Again, hiding from the hot sun, Alec sat at one of the tables in the galley mess, flicking a coin between his fingers. The coin spun and flickered, sometimes not even there for a moment before returning. The one sailor had tried again, but the threat of Brand frightened him off. Of course, it seemed to have frighted everyone off. Leaving him with few choices for conversation.

Addie, his "betrothed" was one, but she was difficult to talk to. And Madam... well, she always seemed to have something else up her sleeves. He had no plans to go near the captain. As for Brand... well. He didn't know what to do about Brand.

Brand made his way into the galley. He had noticed the change in the men around him and figured that Alec had used him as a threat against the other men aboard the ship.

Well that one guy was rather grabby. And more than a bit stronger than Alec. The coin flips and then bounces off the table. He snatches at it quickly and looks up to see Brand.

"Oh... hello."

Brand spotted him as he walked further into the room,"Hello." He smiled a little nodding at him.

"How are you?" He goes back to flipping the coin.

"I am well. How are you?" He sat down.

The coin flips some more before Alec answers. "Bored."

"There is little to do here,"Brand nodded.

"And no one to talk to."

"There are few people here to talk to."

Alec gives a bark of laughter. "And I scared off most of them."

"They are all frightened of me."

"That's how I scared them off." He looks mildly apologetic.

He shrugged,"I don't mind."

The coin spun on the table. "You don't mind having no one to talk to?"

"I am quite used to it,"he nodded.

"Well, I like being social. Or at least having someone to talk too... or just be around." The much younger man rested his head on the table watching the spinning coin.

He nodded slowly,"There are a few people aboard the ship you could talk to."

Alec flicks out his fingers, "The crew is avoiding me out of fear of you, Addie is... sweet but not a great conversationalist, Madam well, yes..." The coin finally stops, on its edge. "And you. Unless you can think of someone else?"

"I am not the best conversationalist but I would not mind talking with you sometimes."

"I'm sure I could give you good practice. Or just... company."

"I would not object to company."

He lifts his head up and gives a soft smile. "Good. Thank you."

He gave a small smile back,"You are welcome."

"Do you ever use contractions?"

He nodded," Occasionally."
