Again, hiding from the hot sun, Alec sat at one of the tables in the galley mess, flicking a coin between his fingers. The coin spun and flickered, sometimes not even there for a moment before returning. The one sailor had tried again, but the threat of Brand frightened him off. Of course, it seemed to have frighted everyone off. Leaving him with few choices for conversation.

Addie, his "betrothed" was one, but she was difficult to talk to. And Madam... well, she always seemed to have something else up her sleeves. He had no plans to go near the captain. As for Brand... well. He didn't know what to do about Brand.

"You're doing a lot of smiling," Alec commented.

"I do not do it often."

"You should. You look nice."

"I don't normally try and look nice."

He laughed softly. "No, you try to look gruff and scary."

"I am good at it."

"So," he nudges again, "What were your suggestions?"

"Most are of a grown up nature."

"I'm an adult."

"I had noticed."

"You are being annoyingly opaque."

"Would you prefer me to be more forward?"

"Yes."

He leaned forward and kissed him.

Alec kissed back, leaning into it.

He cupped the other man's cheek deepening the kiss.

This required scooting closer, and placing a tentative hand on his knee.

He pressed just a little closer himself.

Air requirements made him pull back, his face flushed, smiling.

Brand pulled back a little with a smile of his own.

"I liked that." He lingered close, his hand still on Brand's knee.

"So did I,"he ran his hand over Alec's knee.

He kissed Brand again, slowly, moving so that his legs touched Brand's and with an easy movement he could be on the other man's lap.

Brand kissed him back shifting so his hand was sliding over Alec's side.

Alec squirm just a little at the touch, but not in a bad way as he didn't pull away. He didn't touch Brand back, at least not yet, trying to see what the other man wanted.
