Again, hiding from the hot sun, Alec sat at one of the tables in the galley mess, flicking a coin between his fingers. The coin spun and flickered, sometimes not even there for a moment before returning. The one sailor had tried again, but the threat of Brand frightened him off. Of course, it seemed to have frighted everyone off. Leaving him with few choices for conversation.

Addie, his "betrothed" was one, but she was difficult to talk to. And Madam... well, she always seemed to have something else up her sleeves. He had no plans to go near the captain. As for Brand... well. He didn't know what to do about Brand.

"Normally my services were for larger projects but I have taken care of plants."

He thinks about it. "Have you ever been a mother?"

"No." He shook his head.

Carefully, he nudged the coin so that it rolled towards Brand.

He smiled a little picking the coin up.

"Close your hand around it, and I'll show you a trick," Alec said.

"What kind of trick?" He closed his hand.

"Magic." He opens his own hand, and the coin is there, no longer in Brand's.

He chuckled softly looking at him.

Alec grinned cheerfully.

Leaning forward, Alec looked up at him. "Lonely, isn't it?"

He looked over at him nodding,"Yes it is."

"Gets to me... being alone. It's .. not fun."

"No, it's not very fun,"he shook his head.

"Especially when there's all these people around and no one wants to be there."

"Yes I understand,"he looked down at the table.

"I'm sure we could do something about it. Two lonely people." Smiles a bit.

He nodded a little looking up at him,"We could."
