title:Wooden Guards
prompt: 53. Earth
Characters: Alec (7) and his mom
Rating: G
summary: Little Alec playing

Alec sat outside in the garden playing with his wooden guards. He lined them all up in one of the furrows of tomato plants so that they were marching towards the house. One by one he would move them forward in their march amongst the tomato plants, taking great care to make sure that they wouldn't fall over.

A shadow fell over him and he looked up to see his mother standing with her gardening tools in hand. "What are you doing?"

"They're marching off into battle to fight the griffins," Alec said, gesturing to a pair of wooden griffins on the other side of the garden.

His mother laughed and sat down. "As long as they don't interfere with my gardening," she said.

"They won't."

"Then may they win their battle."

title Safety
prompt 51 water
characters Alec (age 19)
rating Mature
Summary Alec tries not to cry.
Author's Notes: Non consensual sex implied.

He didn't want to cry. But it seemed like that was all he was doing now. He sat in the shower under that space made by the angle of the shower head, listening to the water rush by in his own little cave, trying to hold back his tears.

It had happened again.

He had woken up in Jono's bed with no memory as to how he had gotten there, but with Jono touching him. Calling him pretty and beautiful and lovely and all sorts of loving things. Naked and on top of him with a knife.

He reached up and touched the long thin cuts on his chest. One was almost healed, the rest were raw. He pulled at his memory trying to piece together what had happened. He didn't even remember going over to the temple or seeing Jono that entire day. His thoughts skittered and spun as he clawed at them.

Why couldn't he remember?

Why couldn't he remember? It couldn't be that hard. But he just couldn't find the memories.

Everything was shaky. Even the things he did remember seemed to be half guesses drifting and spinning out of his grasp.

He shuddered and scrunched up, resting his head against his knees, finally crying in frustration.

title For My Rose
prompt 54 air
characters Alec (age 22) Verra Rose
rating G
Summary Alec asks Verra to marry him.
Author's Notes:some cute fluff.

Alec saw Verra standing on top of the cliff, her arms held out to the wind, her head tilted back. Her colorful skirt flapped and snapped against her legs. Below her the ocean sprayed and smashed against the cliff face, as if it was trying to reach up to her and kiss her.

Nervously he held the wooden box in his hands. It had been over two months since he last saw her. Since he had gone home. He wondered if she had forgotten him. It wasn't likely -it hadn't been that long -but still he worried.

Slowly he started to walk up the steep path to the top of the cliff, never taking his eyes off her. She seemed oblivious to him, entranced in the wind.

"Verra!" he called out when he neared her, not wanting to startle her. She turned and upon seeing him her face lit up and she smiled.

"Alec! You came back!" she cried running up to give him a welcoming hug.

"I said I would," he said, hugging her tightly, smelling the sea in her hair.

She smiled and gave him a kiss, "I missed you so much. What's in the box?"

Alec laughed, mostly to hide his nervousness. "It's a present, for you."

"For me?" she asked and took the box from his hands. Opening it revealed a pair of gold bracelets with interlocking circles made of diamond that had been crushed and smoothed into the metal. It had cost Alec nearly all the money that he had. But seeing her gasp of delight, it was all worth it. Picking one up she looked at him, "These are engagement bands... I remember you mentioning them to me, aren't they?"

"They are," he said trying to keep his voice steady, "I want you to marry me. I couldn't stop thinking about you when I left and it was horrible being with -" he stopped as she kissed him, hard and passionately.

He took that as a yes.

title Loving Flame
prompt 52 fire
characters Alexander (older Alec)
rating G
Summary His thoughts on the stars

There was something about stars that Alexander always liked. He liked watching them in the night sky and he liked being inside of them, now that he could. Standing inside of one with all the fire burning and flaring around him just made him feel comfortable, relaxed.

He still thought of himself as a fire wizard. Even after all these years of being an element wizard and a chaos embodiment, he still thought of himself as a fire wizard.

Apparently things that you learn as a child were far more ingrained that one would think. Up until he was fifteen he had been trained as a fire wizard and that's what he was.

And fire wizards loved fire. And it loved them back, never burning them, but touching and stroking them gently, cradling them like a lover would. Playing against their fingers and dancing across their skin.

Being inside a star was like being wrapped up in a cocoon of love.

Deliriously comforting.
