Title Three Days
Prompt Life
Characters Alec

Dying sucked ass.

There you were, going on with your life when all of sudden your body gives out on you and you just drop, shoved out of your body off to join the multiverse collective of chaos, no longer being, just existing. No I, no self, just there.

Then, some time later, three days really, but he couldn't tell because there wasn't time when he was dead, he was pushed back into his body and suddenly he had to deal with an identity. A self. He had a body, legs, arms, eyes, a brain. A mouth that tasted like cotton. He knew what cotton was. He was a person. He had thoughts. He functioned. He breathed. He had to remember to breathe.

His body was a heavy weight. Something that he wore like constantly changing clothes. Most people, he realized, had a stronger connection to their body than he did. His was only a tenuous thread easily cut or woven into another body. Often without notice.

Being dead was easy.

Living was a bitch.

Title Baseball
Prompt Diamond
Characters Alec, Verra Rose, Braxious

"Dad! Dad! Dad!" Braxious cried jumping onto the bed. Alec groaned as the seven year old bounced onto his legs, lifting his head up to glare blearily at the alarm clock. It said, 6:00 am. What was Braxious doing up at six in the morning? Or to be more precise, why was he jumping on the bed at six in the morning?

Verra groaned and rolled over.

"What Braxous?" Alec asked.

"Get up! I don't want to be late!"

Late? Oh, right, today was the day of Braxious' first baseball game. Opening day. Braxious had fallen in love with baseball the first time he had saw the game on the television. He had begged to go to several games and from then he demanded to play. They found a league and signed him up. His team were the Comets. He wore the baseball cap all the time. The jersey almost as much. He filled his parents with all sorts of baseball facts, from statistics to players.

The day he had gotten his glove (and one for Alec too) and baseball bat was spent tossing the ball back and forth and practicing hitting the ball until it was got dark. The day after was spent the same way.

And today was the day of his first baseball game. Starting time was two in the afternoon.

"Brax?"

"Yeah dad?"

"It's six in the morning. We're not going to miss the game, if we wake up at seven or even eight."

"But!"

"Braxious!"

"Moooom!" And Braxious made the plea to his mother who, for all appearances had not waken up at all.

Verra lifted up her head and said, "Listen to your father, Brax." She then dropped her head back down on the pillow and snuggled back up to Alec. Braxious wilted.

"I promise we won't be late," Alec said.

"Promise?"

"Yes."

"Okay." And Braxious ran out of the room. With a sigh, Alec dropped back to the bed as Verra sniggered.

Title Refection in the Mirror
Prompt Outsides
Character [livejournal.com profile] element_wizard

Alec didn't recognize his reflection anymore. He stared at himself in the mirror not knowing who it was that looked back. The face seemed the same... except for the earrings. And the make up. Gods, he was wearing make-up. Before he had come here, he'd never have thought about wearing make-up. That was something that Laruna would do, not him. But... it seemed like the right thing to do. To make himself up for Orion. Always for Orion. Everything was for Orion. He was wearing tight leather pants and a tight tunic. He looked like a slut. That's what Orion had said. Approvingly. Orion liked the fact that he looked like a slut. Alec wasn't sure that he liked looking like a slut. But he liked the way Orion looked at him when he wore these clothes. Like he was going to get eaten up. Like he was someone important. Someone he needed. And Alec wanted to be needed. Especially by Orion. Only by Orion.

So, perhaps it was okay that he didn't recognize the person in the mirror. He didn't know who he was any more. Perhaps this person in the mirror was him. He just didn't know it yet.
