author's notes Not really canon... but not really not canon. Sort of a what if that's not. Oh and Disclaimer: Pern doesn't belong to me. Just Alec.
This never happened.
He stood on the sands dressed in white and barefoot surrounded by boys from ten to nineteen turns was it what they called it? old. He was one of the older boys, but it was his first time standing. He could feel the heat trying to blister his feet and he shifted, lifting up his heels one at a time and then his toes in an odd sort of rocking maneuverer. All the other boys were doing it too, but unconsciously. Their attention was rapt on the clutch of eggs. Large and molted color, rocking and wobbling. Around him the dragons sang, their song pulsing into his bones.
The eggs rocked and rocked and suddenly one of them cracked open spilling a brown dragon onto the sand. A gasp went out through the crowd as if everyone was holding their breath and were now allowed to breathe. The hatchling got up on uncoordinated legs and walked over to a sturdy boy maybe twelve years old and nudged him at the knee.
The boy knelt down, running his hands across the skin crying as he yelled out, "His name is Saleneth!"
More eggs started to hatch after this. He watched them all. Blues, greens, browns and bronze. Some of them knew exactly where they wanted to be, others took their time in choosing.
Then something tugged at his robe, blinking he turned away from the other dragons to look down. A green dragon was tugging at the robe, claw caught in the fabric.
"Here, let me help you," he said, marveling at her color. It reminded him of home a deep green like the forest trees, not at all splotchy. Her skin was smooth and soft like leather, her eyes were whirling a soft green and blue. He could look into those eyes forever.
Thank you she said to him, then, My name is Ferlendraggith.
His breath caught and his hands froze as he felt her in his mind, in his soul, letting him know that he'd never be alone again. That she would always be there for him no matter what he did, she would be with him, through fog fire and fall. She was his, completely and utterly... and he was hers. He knelt down and wrapped his arms around her. Then he remembered what he was supposed to do, "Her name is Ferlendraggith!" he called out.

Author's notes Alec before he knew what a Gary Stu was, musing over the contradictions in his life.
He stood on the beach watching the waves. He had always been enchanted by the ocean, ever since he first saw it. The stars here were different though. He was on a different world all together. Not at home. Where ever that was.
He wasn't sure. He did know that he had a home though. He must have had a home, because it wasn't like he had come into existence fully grown.
Frowning he walked along the beach. He had memories of things that weren't right. That couldn't be right. But at the same time he knew they were. Because he remembered them.
Still... how could he have been this one man's brother... and another man's son... when they were on two totally different worlds? It was a contradiction, to be sure.
Walking, he noticed a depression in the sand. Getting closer he saw that there were lumps in it... eggs! Curious, he knelt down and brushed the sand off of one. It was warm and hard. Perhaps it would make a good breakfast? He took the egg and continued his walk, staring up at the stars and the moons. Two moons. How odd.
Or was it?
He didn't know.
Eventually he felt tired, so he took off his jacket making it into a pillow and slept, the egg next to him. Something woke him though. Something hungry and clawing at his arm. Starting he blinked and found himself staring at a small brown dragon.
Who wanted food.
He made food for it. He wasn't sure how he knew how to do this, just that he did. And he fed it to the little brown dragon. By the time it was full, the sun had come up and it was curled around his arm tightly.
He petted it gently, not wanting to disturb it, utterly amazed at it.
"I think I'll call you Trey," he murmured. Trey was the nickname of another brother of his.

Author's notes some musing on being a Gary Stu.
Truth be told, Alec didn't know how old he was.
He met his wife when he was twenty one and they had been married for eleven years... at least, because that's how old Braxious had been. Which should make him thirty two, but his sister, his twin sister was still in her twenties. And since they were twins, he should be the same age she was.
Plus he had spent an exorbitant amount of time living the lives of other hims in other realities so that must have aged him up a bit.
But he still didn't look any older than his sister. Perhaps a bit younger, but that's why he grew the goatee. It made him look older.
He didn't even really start celebrating his birthday until about three years ago. He had been a sort of stationary twenty three. But once he got onto the role playing scene... well he had to age and have birthdays. February twenty ninth was a rather random day, chosen only because it was leap day and he was born on his world's leap day.
There was very obviously some plot holes in his life and he imagined, once things got written out canonically Braxious would only be three or four when he was twenty five.
Until then, he'd blame it on being a Gary Stu and timehasnomeaningyay!
