A dream
It was a good dream. It was perhaps the best dream that he had in a while.
There was laughter around him. He couldn't see the people's faces, but he knew who they were. Family, friends, the good sort of people that you wanted to have around. They were surrounding him. Cooing at something in his arms. Looking down he saw a baby. It was fuzzy around the edges as if not formed, but filled with love. Love and demanding protection from him.
Alec smiled at the baby, holding her tight.
Everything seemed wonderful. Not even a glimpse of shadow.
In the world out of dreams, Alec snuggled closer to Kairos, singing softly in his sleep, a lullaby that his mother used to sing to him.
